Fisheries and Oceans Canada has taken the following course of action on November 26, 2014 relating to the comprehensive study of the BlackRock Mining Project. Fisheries and Oceans Canada may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the comprehensive study report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant environmental effects.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Water Resources
  • Air Quality
  • Fish and fish habitat
  • Birds and bird habitat
  • Terrestrial wildlife and their habitat
  • Current use of land and resources for traditional purposes by aboriginal persons

A follow-up program to verify the accuracy of the environmental assessment and/or determine the effectiveness of any measures taken to mitigate the adverse environmental effects is required for this project.
