Document Reference Number: 40

The rules of participation for open houses are aimed at facilitating respectful participation by all interested parties: the public, the proponent, its consultants and the members of the Federal Environmental Assessment Committee. The rules also contribute to maintaining a climate conducive to discussion, in order to gather questions and comments regarding the proponent's Environmental Impact Statement.

Participants are asked to move from table to table to ask questions of the representatives present.

Everyone participating in the open house must comply with the following rules:

  • Questions and comments must pertain to the project under review and its Environmental Impact Statement or the environmental assessment process.
  • Discussions must be carried out with respect for the individuals involved. Participants are asked to phrase their questions calmly and moderately. Personal attacks and offensive or threatening language will not be tolerated.

If any participant does not comply with the rules of participation, the moderator reserves the right to interrupt the participant or end the open house.
