City of Winnipeg Insect Control Branch and Heliport Relocation Project — Public Comments Invited

April 24, 2018 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) must decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed City of Winnipeg Insect Control Branch and Heliport Relocation Project, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

To help inform this decision, the Agency is seeking comments from the public and Indigenous groups on the project and its potential effects on the environment, as described in the summary of the project description.

All comments received will be considered public. Written comments in either official language must be submitted by May 13, 2018 to:

The Proposed Project

The City of Winnipeg proposes to construct and operate a new heliport (aerodrome) as part of the relocation of its Insect Control Branch and existing heliport. As proposed, the City of Winnipeg Insect Control Branch and Heliport Relocation Project would involve the construction of a new heliport and aircraft hangar, an operations building with attached cold storage, and a warehouse for pesticide storage on city-owned land.
