Fisheries and Oceans Canada has taken the following course of action on May 11, 2018 relating to the comprehensive study of the BURNCO Aggregate Mine Project. Fisheries and Oceans Canada may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the Comprehensive Study Report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Fish and fish habitat;
  • Water quality and quantity;
  • Marine foreshore;
  • Marine wildlife;
  • Terrestrial wildlife;
  • Noise; and
  • Current use of lands and resources.

A follow-up program to verify the accuracy of the environmental assessment and/or determine the effectiveness of any measures taken to mitigate the adverse environmental effects is required for this project.
