Marine Terminal Project on the North Shore of the Saguenay — Public Comments Invited

Update — August 1, 2018 — The deadline to submit written comments has been extended from August 11 to August 13, 2018. The Agency is aware that some members of the public may not have been able to provide comments or access the Registry Internet site due to a technical issue that occurred between July 28, 2018 - July 29, 2018. The issue is now resolved. As a result, the Agency has extended the deadline for the submission of public comments to August 13, 2018.

July 11, 2018 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a federal environmental assessment for the proposed Marine Terminal Project on the North Shore of the Saguenay, located in Quebec.

Public consultation period

The Agency invites the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the draft Environmental Assessment Report, a document that includes the Agency's conclusions and recommendations regarding the potential environmental effects of the project and their significance, the proposed mitigation measures, and the follow-up program.

The Agency also invites the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the potential environmental assessment conditions for the project. Final conditions would become legally binding on the proponent if the project is allowed to proceed.

All comments received will be considered public. Written comments in either official language must be submitted by August 10, 2018 to:

Open-house sessions

The Agency invites the public to attend two open-house sessions to provide information on the conclusions of the draft report regarding environmental effects of the project and the mitigation measures proposed to prevent or mitigate these effects and respond to questions and comments from the public.

The sessions will take place on July 18, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Pavillon de la Montagne, located at 213 du Quai Street, in Sainte-Rose-du-Nord. The sessions will be identical and will start with a presentation on the current phase of the environmental assessment process, the conclusions of the draft report and the proposed mitigation measures. Representatives of the Agency and other expert departments will be on site to answer questions.
