Dear Ms. Murray:

Re: Information Request Regarding the Federal Environmental Assessment of the Kwispaa LNG Project

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is aware that Kwispaa LNG (CF) Limited Partnership (the proponent) has indicated that work on the Kwispaa LNG Project (the Project) has been paused. As such, the Agency would like to gain clarity regarding the proponent's intentions for the Project, in order to help inform our consideration of next steps for the federal environmental assessment which commenced under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 on December 13, 2018.

As discussed in our phone conversation of February 19, 2019, the Agency requests an update on the proponent's plans for the Project, including whether or not you intend to proceed with the next steps of the federal environmental assessment. Please also provide the Agency with a written description of the changes to the Project Schedule as described in Table 2-5: Project Schedule of the Kwispaa LNG Project Description, which was submitted to the Agency on October 17, 2018. The requested information must be provided in writing and signed by an officer or legal representative of the proponent.

The federal legislated timeline for the environmental assessment will remain paused with 75 days elapsed out of 365 as per the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 until a complete response to this information request is provided. Furthermore, while British Columbia has requested that the conduct of the environmental assessment be substituted to the province, the Agency will not proceed with further consideration of this request until we have greater clarity on your plans for the Project.

Should you wish to discuss any matters pertaining to the federal environmental assessment process, please do not hesitate to contact me at 604-666-9115 or Katherine.Wreford@canada.ca.

Sincerely,
