The Proposed Project

Canada is committed to the timely and successful clearance and remediation of the Stony Point land in accordance with the Ipperwash Final Settlement Agreement between the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada. As per the Final Settlement Agreement, the Department of National Defence (DND) will conduct clearance and remediation activities to prevent, minimize and mitigate risks to human health, safety and the environment for the express purpose of making the land available for the use and benefit of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation (KSPFN).

Although the Final Settlement Agreement requires all clearance and remediation activities to be conducted in accordance with the Clearance and Remediation Plan, there are interim activities that need to be completed to reduce health and safety risks and prepare the site for clean-up.

This project activity includes removal of the existing building foundations & slab on grades, thirty (30) in total and remediate the non-compliant soils at the Stony Point site and dispose at a licensed facility.
