Project Summary

The project involves a complete replacement of the dam at Burleigh Falls, constructing a new dam 0.5 m downstream of the existing structure and demolition of the old dam. Work involves preliminary repairs to the current dam so it can be used as an upstream cofferdam. A downstream cofferdam will be constructed in order to complete the works. The project will be completed in 2 stages, one half at a time, as not to affect water levels or total discharge. There will be a permanent PCA access road to the dam from the North parking lot. The work includes ancillary activities such as clearing for laydown area and temporary facilities such as site trailers, sediment treatment structures and storage and concrete wash areas.

The project has been referred to Fisheries and Oceans Canada for review. At parks Canada, this project will be assessed with a Detailed Impact Assessment.
