Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — September 15, 2020 — The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) has suspended the 180-day time limit for the Planning Phase under the Impact Assessment Act for FortisBC Holdings Inc.'s (the proponent) Tilbury Phase 2 LNG Expansion Project.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order that it may have sufficient time to provide the Agency with:

  • a notice that sets out how it intends to address the issues referred to in the Joint Summary of Issues and Engagement, which was provided to the proponent by the Agency and B.C.'s Environmental Assessment Office on August 14, 2020; and
  • a Detailed Project Description that includes the information prescribed by the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations.

When the proponent has provided the Agency with its response to the Joint Summary of Issues and Engagement and a Detailed Project Description, the Agency will post a notice that the prescribed activities are completed and the 180-day time limit will resume.
