Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — September 17, 2020 — On September 15, 2020, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit within which it must provide Monarch Gold Corporation (the proponent) with a notice of the commencement of the impact assessment of the Wasamac Gold Mine Project, if the Agency decides that an impact assessment of the project is required.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order that it may have sufficient time to provide the Agency with a notice that sets out:

  • how it intends to address the issues referred to in the Summary of Issues, provided to the proponent on September 4, 2020; and
  • a detailed description of the project that includes the information prescribed by the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations.

When the proponent has provided the Agency with its response to the Summary of Issues and a detailed description of the project, the Agency will post a notice that the prescribed activity is completed and the 180-day time limit will resume.
