Notice of intent to make a determination
Sheshatshiu Fire Station Project– Public Comments Invited
December 16, 2020 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Fire Station Project located in Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project
The Sheshatshiu Fire Station project will include the construction of a new 2-bay Fire Station to house two fire trucks and associated fire fighting equipment and gear. The building is approximately 280 m2 and will include an asphalt apron for firetruck access and general parking for four staff vehicles. The work will also include approximately 4500m2 of clearing and grubbing for site preparation and landscaping. The new building will meet standards set out in the National Building Code and National Fire Code.
