Public Notice

29 January 2021 – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police must determine whether the proposed new police detachment project, located in Fort St James is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The project consists of the design, construction and fit-up of a new police detachment facility in the district municipality of Fort St. James. The new detachment will be of modular construction whereby the majority of construction will be completed off-site then delivered and assembled on site. The new facility will comprise of approximately 977m2 of useable space to meet the RCMPs program requirements. Site works to include relocation of an existing water main to accommodate the build. Decommissioning and demolition of the existing detachment to follow the turnover of the new detachment. Schedule: An estimated 10-15 months is anticipated for all project activities including demolition, site preparation, placement of modules fit up and commissioning. Project activities on site anticipated to start summer/fall 2021 with a project end date of summer/fall 2022.
