Notice of determination for the Sturgeon Lake First Nation - Renovation for Gas Bar and Convenience Store


February 11, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Sturgeon Lake First Nation - Renovation for Gas Bar and Convenience Store is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.


The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the Chief & Council has requested by Band Council Resolution that a s. 53 lease be issued for this strip mall property and businesses
-the continued operation of the Sturgeon Lake First Nation Gas Bar and Convenience Store will provide employment and training opportunities for members of the community
 -an updated emergency spill plan was submitted for the Gas Station
-the fuel storage tanks are registered with Environment and Climate Change Canada
-recycling and waste will be contracted to a commercial provider
-the gas bar and convenience store will be connected to the City of Prince Albert Infrastructure


Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
