The Proposed Project Amendment

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority proposes to conduct maintenance dredging at berths 5 and 6 of Centerm terminal, 777 Centennial Road, Vancouver, between August 16 and 31, 2021. This would require an extension to the approved project permit (PER 20-059) which has an expiry date of February 28, 2021, and an amendment to permit condition 23, which limits in-water works to the period from September 1 to February 28 to minimize the impact to Dungeness crabs during the molting period.

Due to conflicts between ship berthing schedules, construction activities associated with a separate project, and the availability of dredge equipment, the project could not be completed prior to February 28, 2021. The proposed dredging will be conducted for 7 to 10 days over a two week period at the end of the female Dungeness molting period and within Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) least-risk windows for Burrard Inlet (August 16 to February 28). There are no changes to dredging activity or the scope of the work.
