Launch Ramp Reconstruction – Whitefish Point , MB - Fall 2021 – Public Comments Invited

June 29th, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, must determine whether the proposed Launch Ramp Reconstruction – Whitefish Point, MB, located in Dawson Bay, MB is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.  

 

To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Whitefish Point Harbour, Manitoba is located in the town of Dawson Bay, approximately 35km North of Mafeking, MB and approximately 430km Northwest of Winnipeg, MB. The harbour is an active commercial fishing facility under the administration of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH).

 

Small Craft Harbours Branch, (SCH) is proposing to reconstruct the launch ramp at Whitefish Point Harbour, MB.  The scope of work includes the demolition and removal of the existing pre-cast launch ramp pads and the construction of a new launch ramp using pre-cast launch ramp pads. The work area at Whitefish Point Harbour is approximately 180 m2. The work will be done in open water conditions using shore-based equipment and is scheduled for Fall 2021.
