September 29th, 2021 – The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has determined that the proposed project Installation of a new manifold for loading vessels at berth 96 is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:

  • Hazardous materials management: the oil lines will be drained using a vacuum truck and the recovered products returned to the Montreal refinery.
  • Soil management: the excavated soil will be transported to the Englobe soil treatment center in Montreal East.
  • Surface water management: water accumulated in the bottom of the excavation showing signs of contamination will be pumped and sent to the Montreal refinery for treatment.

Therefore, the MPA may perform any duty or function to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
