DECISION

Infrastructure Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada have taken the following course of action on the 19th of November, 2021 relating to the comprehensive study of the Route 389 Improvement Project between Fire Lake and Fermont. The authorities may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the comprehensive study report, the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, as well as comments received from concerned Indigenous communities, the authorities are of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Air quality;
  • Fish and fish habitat;
  • Avian species at risk and their habitat;
  • Boreal Caribou;
  • Bats;
  • Current use of lands and resources for traditional purposes.

A follow-up program to verify the accuracy of the environmental assessment and/or determine the effectiveness of any measures taken to mitigate the adverse environmental effects is required for this project. For further information or to obtain a copy of the follow-up program, please contact the authorities who were responsible to conduct this environmental assessment.
