The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project to carry out upgrades to the 50 metre and 600 meter / 25 meter ranges at the Bedford Rifle Range. Planned upgrades include the replacement of the 600 meter target gallery and bullet catchers; renovations to the 25 meter range firing lanes, target holders, and bullet catchers; construction of a new 600 meter / 25 meter target shelter and ammo loading shelter; renovations to the 50 meter range target holders, lane markers, targets, and bullet catchers, regrading of firing lanes, elongation of the butt stop to accommodate a 10th lane, construction of an ammo shelter; and associated site work. Excess soil/sediment considered to be hazardous waste will be disposed at a designated hazardous waste secure landfill; all other excess soil/sediment will be disposed at a licensed disposal and/or soil treatment facility. Proposed project activities are expected to begin in Spring 2023 and conclude in Fall 2023.
