The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. This is multi-year project that has been divided into three phases to date. Previous project phases included, Phase 1, as an experimental phase for one part of the Fort Frederick curtain wall and more work on the wall was required in future phases. Phase 1B of the Fort Frederick Restoration was an experimental stage for work around one window and one caponier of the Martello Tower, R30. The caponier is now complete.

This current phase of work, Phase 2, encompasses re-pointing masonry joints, stone replacement, crack repair in stone units and sealing of skyward facing joints of the Martello Tower, R30. This will also involve the excavation to bedrock in the surrounding dry ditch to support the construction work in repointing the Martello Tower.
