The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project construct a new Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) building, approximately 950 square meters (one-story), to house daycare space, a community space to accommodate larger groups and smaller gatherings, closed and open offices, heated storage, and common areas. This project has been raised to correct capability deficiencies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and allow MFRC to provide more support to Canadian Armed Forces members of 9 Wing Gander. The current MFRC facility is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the main base, in Canadian Forces Housing Agency accommodations that has been repurposed for daycare and administration. There is no community centre/activity space in the existing facility to accommodate larger gatherings. The proposed project commencement is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
