The Proposed Project
Berens River First Nation will establish a camp to revitalize culture, restore traditional roles, strengthen identities, and empower community members to work as leaders to end systemic racism and gender-based violence. The camp will be located at Pigeon River 13A, and will consist of a Main Lodge (1,672 sq. ft. modular building) as well as six, two-bedroom cabins (728 sq. ft.). The construction will include wooden accessibility ramps for each of the cabins and the Main Lodge, constructed by local carpenters.
