May 1, 2023 – Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has determined that the proposed 15 new homes within the community of Stoney Cree First Nation is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • The project will have a positive impact on the First Nation community by providing social support services
  • Indigenous knowledge
  • Community knowledge
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures
  • Daily monitoring of the site for birds, nests or other wildlife during the nesting period when ground clearing is being undertaken
  • Increased amount of solid waste – waste will be segregated and disposed of in an approved waste landfill
  • Fuel related spills – spill kits will be made available and on hand during work
  • Sediment control measures will be in place where required

Note that no comments were received during the public commenting period.

 Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Surface and Groundwater
  • The Land
  • Air and Noise
  • Socio-Economic, Culture and Heritage

 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
