Proposed Project

Cumberland House Cree Nation is proposing the upgrade of their water treatment plant. The project consists of construction of a building expansion to the existing Pemmican Portage water treatment plant building over an existing earth covered reservoir. A new underground concrete reservoir will also be constructed and will serve as the foundation for a portion of the building expansion. The total building expansion is approximately 370 sq.m. The building expansion will include new pumping, treatment and treated water storage infrastructure to meet the 10 year design requirements of the community. Completion of a new raw water supply well is also included in the proposed project.

The proposed project activities include the removal of existing water treatment plant fencing, stripping of earth cover from existing concrete reservoir, construction of new concrete reservoir adjacent to the existing, framing of new building around existing building, demolition of existing building structure, installation of new mechanical and electrical equipment, removal of existing mechanical and electrical equipment, installation of exterior masonry and metal roofing, interior finishes, installation of underground services.

The project site is located 10 m from the nearest residence. Demolition waste from existing building will be hauled to the nearest permitted disposal site.
