The Proposed Project

The Government of Canada has committed to purchasing 100% clean electricity for all federal facilities through the purchase of new renewables by 2025, where available. New Brunswick has been identified as one of the five target provinces for a Green Power Purchase Agreement based on the provincial electricity grid's carbon intensity. To respond to this goal, the Department of National Defence is proposing to construct a solar farm to be located at the 5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown, also known as Base Gagetown. The solar farm is expected to be up to 9 MW in size, with 5 MW battery storage and will partially supply the electricity requirements of the Base.
