May 5, 2023 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Ministikwan Lake Solid Waste Transfer Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the existing non-engineered dumpsites within Ministikwan Lake have reached the end of their life span, and the construction of a new solid waste transfer station will benefit its membership

-review of design drawings and geotechnical investigation

-no comments were received from the public about the project

-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:

-breeding bird and raptor nesting surveys will be completed by a Qualified Environmental Professional, prior to all construction activities. Species specific mitigation, including buffers and setback distances from active nests will be implemented if the survey identifies any nesting birds or raptors.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
