March 22, 2024Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  Written comments must be submitted by April 21, 2024 to contact identified on the project page.

New Fibre Installation

The project involves the installation of approximately 150 km of aerial fiber optic cable from the Fort McKay point of presence located at latitude 57.17935 and longitude-111.63689, the fibre will be deployed along the local roads of the Fort McKay First Nation. In addition, the fibre will be deployed along Highway 881 through Gregoire Lake 176A and 176. In Janvier, the fibre will be deployed from point of presence located at latitude 55.92592 and longitude -110.7304 throughout the community's local roads.
