The Proposed Project

Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation is proposing a flooding damage repair project, which will include the replacement of 19 existing crib docks, shoreline protection, and boardwalk replacement on AWZ #37 Windigo Island and Windfall Island. The new docks will be comprised of small fixed shore docks with attached ramps and floating docks to accommodate fluctuating water levels on Lake of the Woods. Shoreline erosion repair work at Windfall Island will involve the placement of riprap along the affected areas to protect against further bank erosion. The boardwalk between small and big Windigo Islands will be replaced to withstand extreme water levels and provide pedestrian access to essential services during natural hazards.
