OTTAWA – May 28, 2012 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) invites public comments on the Comprehensive Study Report for the environmental assessment of the Mining and Milling the Midwest Project which is proposed by AREVA Resources, in Saskatchewan.

The Comprehensive Study Report includes: a summary description of the existing environment; the predicted environmental effects; and conclusions and recommendations regarding the implementation of appropriate measures and whether or not the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

After this public comment period, the Minister of the Environment will take into consideration the Comprehensive Study Report along with public comments received and issue his environmental assessment decision statement.

The Comprehensive Study Report and more information on this project are available on the Agency's Web site, in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry under reference number 06-03-17519. The document is available in paper copy by request as well.

Public comments received by June 27, 2012 will be considered.

This is the final public comment period of the environmental assessment of the project.

AREVA Resources proposes the mining and milling of ore from a uranium deposit located 700 kilometres north of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, near the eastern margin of the Athabasca Basin.
