From Huron-Wendat Nation to Impact Assessment Agency of Canada - Input on Designation Request for the Baldwin East Aerodrome Project

As discuss with Spencer Roth in the emails below, I am reaching out to you for further information about the next steps for the Archeological Assessments. As mentioned in the Final Summary Report, a Stage 2 will take place and a potential Stage 3. The Huron-Wendat Nation is interested in continuing its participation in the project such as reviewing the Archeological Assessments and participating in the fieldwork. I have c.c’d my colleague Thiefaine Terrier who will be able to coordinate our participation for the next steps of the projet.

Thank you for your email.

In the May 2022 Summary Report prepared by Sutton Airport Development Inc. (the Proponent) for the Baldwin East Aerodrome Project, section 3.7 describes the Proponent’s findings and recommendations from its Stage 1 Archaeological Assessment from fall of 2021.  Notably, page 33 of the Summary Report (page 38 of the PDF) indicates that the Proponent has been in contact with Marie-Sophie Gendron from Huron-Wendat Nation regarding the findings of the Archaeological Assessment, and page 130 of the PDF indicates that that the Proponent proposes to complete a Stage 2 Archaeological Assessment for the Project.  The Proponent may also undertake a Stage 3 Archaeological Assessment as well, if required.
