Scientific information relevant to the focus area

I’m on the scientific committee and just wanted to pass along a couple of notes related to the November 7, 2023 document “Committee Decision Regarding the Focus Area for the Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in Newfoundland and Labrador”.

1.  The committee's document references one of NRCan's earlier studies, but a more recent report is also relevant: Kirkpatrick et al., 2023 (available at https://geoscan.nrcan.gc.ca/starweb/geoscan/servlet.starweb?path=geoscan/fulle.web&search1=R=331855).  The newer NRCan report covers many aspects important to the wind development process, using a focus area similar to that of the decision for NL regional assessment, plus NS waters.

2.  The committee's document mentions NRC's iceberg engineering database but no reference is given.
