  • Good Afternoon, I am writing in support of the DeHavilland project west of Strathmore as this project is important to the growth of the rural areas.  Those who say that the land and animals will be affected should remember the fact that the land was broken probably 100 years ago that affected the environment. The affect of humans from the beginning of our species has changed the world we live on.  The farmland that will be used is no different than the land that is used to build communities around large cities. What is important to me is the fact that in this province only about 14% of the Alberta population lives in rural communities.  As farm land is consolidated into larger farms and modern equipment greatly reduces the amount of labour required on farms, rural areas have depopulated for lack of opportunities.  Our rural communities are dying as our young people move to larger places for jobs and education.  Opportunities to bring projects like ...

This air field will effectively destroy an enormous area of agricultural land in the midst of a global food crisis. This land has been and currently is farmed by local farmers and provides hundreds of thousands of bushells of grain to not only feed canadians but contribute to the economy of this country. Our province relies on agriculture and farmers to keep things moving. Eliminating farmland in favor of airplanes that polute the air feels like a step in the wrong direction.  In addition to the loss of farmland this land is a home to many animals including deer, moose, burrowing owls and thousands of geese and ducks who stop to feed during migration and create their homes here in the summer months.  This airfield is a mistake. I look forward to the creation of high paying jobs particularly in the trades and maintenance industry in which I am currently employed. I think it will increase property values of the surrounding areas and will allow growth for Wheatland County and the town of Strathmore.    The projected S.A.I.T campus is a huge highlight for us as it could potentially allow our children to attend the programs close to home.    To conclude I am in favour of this development and look forward to having it in our ...

  • As a resident of the Town of Strathmore I feel this area needs more opportunities like this, that will create good paying skilled jobs, as well as the positive impact it will have on the economy from a project of this magnitude. I can’t wait for this to be done!

  • I believe that as long as the usual workplace and environmental regulations are followed, and they will be, this will be a great project for local communities. I have confidence that the fuel storage and waste management will be done correctly and safely.  Let's get this done.
