Mining is not sustainable development

I am writing this comment for signifying my opposition to the projected mine project at Strange Lake. While I understand the need to obtain rare earth for the process of transport electrification I am stunned at the lack of opposition for such a large project.
The inuit people of Nunavik live from the land and especially from the George River. They fish the salmon, the char and before harvested Caribou.
The mine will have a significant change in the landscape around strange lake. I seriously hope that they will be an environmental follow up from Makivik and the local authorities in Kangiqsuallujjuaq.
I hope the mine will go to Kangiqsualujjuaq to explain their project and how they plan to do open mining.
I am stunned at how it is difficult to have a consultation process that is fair and efficient for all to bring a debate for such a large mine that will destroy the land of the inuit for generations and generations.
I hope that the mining company will have the decency to go around the affected villages to explain their project before going ahead with such an enterprise.
Best regards,
Felix Lussier
