Comprehensive Study Report

9. Approval Conditions

The approval conditions in the comprehensive study are as follows:

  • The proponent is required to implement mitigation measures, together with the follow-up programs mentioned in the different documents prepared by same as well as herein;
  • Prior to the start of work the proponent must conduct the avifauna surveys requested by Environment Canada and then relay the findings to it. If these studies identify species that are rare, vulnerable or threatened or likely to be designated as such, the proponent will be required to implement appropriate mitigation measures as approved by Environment Canada;
  • The proponent must sign a compensation agreement with DFO which will specify the enhancements and follow-up conditions required in order to compensate the fish habitat loss attributable to the project;
  • In the course of monitoring the aquatic and riparian vegetation, the proponent must undertake to evaluate the fish habitat losses that are likely to occur in such environments as a result of erosional effects of ice scour associated with the project. Any fish habitat losses that are noted will have to be compensated.
