Comprehensive Study Report
10. Conclusion
Further to the analysis of the nature of the project, the description of the construction work, the infrastructures and the proposed changes to the hydraulic management regime in wintertime, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in its capacity as responsible authority, as defined in the CEAA, has evaluated the impacts that the new Grand-Mère hydroelectric facility project may have on the environment.
This review has been rounded out by using information submitted by the proponent and the advice received from the different federal departments concerned by the proposed project.
In view of the mitigation measures and the proposed follow-up programs and the undertakings by the proponent, DFO considers that the proposed project, as defined by the scope of the study, is not likely to have significant adverse effects on the environment.
This is a preliminary conclusion, which will be re-evaluated during the review of comments arising from the public consultation process.
