Harbour Development, Norris Point, Newfoundland

DFO, Small Craft Harbour intends to carry out a harbour development project in Norris Point (Neddy's Harbour), Newfoundland. The scope of work for this project involves the construction of a new treated timber crib marginal wharf and finger pier, launchway, two (2) floating docks and armour stone breakwater. The uplands will be backfilled to create laydown area as well as give greater access to the facility. There will be approximately 36 metres of timber crib marginal wharf constructed and will include a concrete deck measuring 3 metres wide. The finger pier will measure 18.3 metres by 6.1 metres with a concrete deck over the entire structure. A small storage/electrical building will be constructed on the east side of the development. The harbour basin will be dredged to a depth of -2.0 metres.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada- Small Craft Harbours (DFO-SCH) intends to make a determination regarding whether completing a harbour development, at the Small Craft Harbours site in Norris Point, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, DFO-SCH is inviting public comments in respect to that determination for 30 days following the posting of this notice.
