  • The CN rail hub should not be built in Milton in order to protect the environment and the health and safety of the town's residents, workers, and future students. It will be steps from the "protected" Niagara Escarpment, residential neighborhoods, the Mattamy National Cycling Centre, and the future Wilfred Laurier campus on Tremaine. Not only will traffic congestion, noise, and pollution be an issue but so will the safety of residents, cyclists, future students, and motorists. Milton has a unique opportunity to grow and thrive as a sporting (cycling) and educational capital attracting visitors, students, residents, and future workers at the university. Will this be possible when we have to contend with hundreds of trucks on Tremaine every single day?   • I am disgusted at the hypocrisy by this Goverment with repect to this Intermodal project. For almost 2 years I and many others were not allowed to work due to the Pandemic. My industry was shut down and the reason given, was to protect our HEALTH! I lost Tens of Thousands of dollars, which will NEVER be recouped. As the Gov stated, this was to protect our HEALTH! Suddenly when it comes to CN and thier profit, health is NOT that important. An exhausting enviromental impact study was completed by professionals, CHOSEN by the Goverment, which included the following assessment " adverse HEALTH and enviromental impacts" will be the result of the project. How is it that our health is no longer important? If this is the case, then I expect to be reimbursed for the tens of thsousnads I lost and all mandates currently in place (to protect us from Covid) be lifted and NEVER implemeted again.   • Hi, I am about to become a resident of Milton, and while I understand this may overall have a positive environmental impact for the rest of Canada, it comes at the cost of polluting the Halton Region, a region occupied by 500,000 plus people and growing. There are a lot of young families and children in the area and aside from the pollution, it is not safe to have 1600 trucks going in and out of the city. please reconsider, these hubs are good but they need to be away from neighbourhoods.

Please, please don't build this in our peaceful and quiet and currently safe town.   • Dear Members of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada regarding CN's Intermodal Hub Proposal for Milton Ontario. I have been following the CN Intermodal Hub plan with great interest. We have purchased a new condo that is being built in Milton and will move there in late 2021, so we have a strong vested interest in this project. As an aside, ironically, the condo we purchased will a “Net Zero” building and that is precisely why we chose this location to purchase. Next to no other low rise condo builders in Canada are offering such low carbon footprint residences. Early on, I had assumed it was obvious that CN’s Intermodal Hub plan would be rejected. Who in their right mind would build such a facility right next to a large residential community. Surely the prospect of a 24/7 operation with 800 trucks per day coming and going and the resulting pollutants and noise and negative health impacts to families in this community would never be ...

  • I have just moved into 1KM buffer of this proposed project.  I understand how an Intermodal Rail will greatly assist in the GTA's growing demand for goods, HOWEVER, the thought that 1600 trucks will be travelling in and around my neighbourhood 24/7 - in already congested roads and in some cases 1 way roads boggles my mind.  If the region knew that CN was proposing this project to eventually approving it then you have not done any justice/due diligence to the residents who moved here.  Because then you would have REJECTED new housing and school developments in this area years ago.  Why destroy the lives of thousands to create minimal jobs when there are other locations which would be best suited for something of this magnitude.

Extension from HWY 403 to HWY 401 near Walkers lane or Appleby line in Halton.   • I honestly don't even know why there is a discussion about the CN lands in Milton.  CN have owned these lands for many, many years when Milton was nothing but a small town.  But then.......land in the area became available and the land was sold to developers who knew the land nearby was owned by CN!!  They didn't bother to inform the buyers and now all these newbies don't want it "in their backyard".  They probably don't want the planes from Pearson flying overhead either.   • My husband and I with our two small daughters moved to Milton less than a year ago. We moved here because we loved how family oriented it is, how beautiful the escarpment is and how our children have the opportunity to play outdoors and be safe.  Learning about the CN Hub being built only a couple kms from my home is very worriesome. Our roads with be congested with trailers, the noise will be horrible and we'll be subjected to a lot of pollution. This is not the Milton we wanted to live in & putting this Hub in will ruin Milton's wholesome name and will force people to move away from this beautiful town. This sort of Hub should be in an industrial area where no homes, families and community will be at risk.

Approximately 34,000 current and future residents, twelve schools, two long-term care homes and one hospital are located within one kilometer of the site. The proposed hub will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and result in 1,600 truck trips to and from the site each day.  These truck routes will lead to more traffic on our roads and traffic will continue to increase as the site’s capacity grows.   • To whom it may concern, I am a resident of Milton and have lived her for close to 10 years have owned and operated a business in Milton for close to 15 years and I would like to say that I am opposed to the placement of the intermodal hub being so close to residents homes, schools, wildlife, long term care facilities and a community that is still growing rapidly. A hub that seeins 1200 or more trucks passing through daily would be catastrophic to the environment, people, daily commute, health and safety, economy and to the growth of the community as home values would drop.  I believe that there exists other locations available outside of communities anywhere that a hub like this can exist and CN should be planning to build out in an area far away from a thriving populated community as described above. thank you, Julie Creighton
