Wunnumin H1RCI Compound Construction
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The project consists of constructing the necessary infrastructure in Wunnumin Lake First Nation to serve as a base of operations for Hydro One Remotes Communities Inc. ("Remotes"). This project forms part of the bigger Watay Project (Wataynikaneyap Transmission Project) in which sixteen First Nations are connected to Ontario's Transmission Network. The project scope includes fencing off an area of approximately 4,688 m2 next to the airport. The area will then be compacted and graded to allow for drainage with a granular material. The next stage will involve construction a general storage building of 4.9 m x 7.3 m, a lines storage building of 4.9 m x 8.5 m, and a staff house of 8 m x 18 m.
The necessary infrastructure on the site includes a drinking water system consisting of a drilled well, pump, treatment and controls, a sewage holding tank, and site electrical works. A buried electrical service will connect the electrical works to the existing community supply. In addition, the compound will also contain a three-bedroom staff house (modular), a bucket truck storage garage, a lines storage building, a pole bunk storage, and a transformer storage platform.
