Bridge Replacement, Takla Lake, Burns Lake
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
Proposed project includes bridge installation and associated upgrades to the road approaches. The exisiting bridge structure is no longer safe for use. The new bridge will be installed following road upgrades from Takla Lake Ferry Landing IR 9 to the crossing. The new bridge structure will restore access to the land within the IR. Proposed works will include the removal of the existing bridge and installation of a 21.336 m steel girder/timber deck bridge on log cribs over an inlet of the west arm of Takla Lake (watershed code (WSC):182-819600-63300).
It is anticipated that works will be completed in the fall/winter of 2022 when the inlet is anticipated to have minimal water volume and will take 7-10 days to complete. Construction works are anticipated to include the following proposed activities:
- Mobilization to site, delivery of new bridge
- Removal of the existing bridge structure
- Vegetation clearing and grubbing
- Excavation of sill logs;
- Bridge installation
- Road approach works
- Site remediation
