GITANYOW FIRST NATION WATER SUPPLY AND RESERVOIR SITE WORKS

The new water supply pipe will connect to the existing 150mm diameter distribution system on First Avenue, with a reducer facilitating the transition between pipe sizes. It will also tie into the existing 200mm C900 PVC discharge pipe at the reservoir, requiring no further modifications beyond the tie-in. For detailed tie-in configurations at First Avenue and the reservoir, refer to
design drawing 1106-181-06. Upgrading the pipe diameter from 150mm (6 inches) to 200mm (8 inches) significantly enhances
the hydraulic capacity of the water distribution system, ensuring it meets the Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS) standards for residential and commercial fire flows. To minimize environmental impact and avoid excavation on steep, wooded slopes, a horizontal
directional drill (HDD) is proposed. The HDD will start from a secure location approximately 130 meters downstream of the reservoir and extend 200 meters. The drill will terminate about 50 meters from the riverbank in an open area where the pipe can be safely exposed.
