Pacific Future Energy Refinery Project

Pacific Future Energy Corporation is proposing the construction, operation and decommissioning of an oil refinery located on Dubose Flats, 32 kilometres north of Kitimat, in northwest British Columbia. The Pacific Future Energy Refinery Project would be capable of refining 31,795 m3 per day (200,000 barrels per day) of NEATBITTM (nearly solid bitumen) over a project life of at least 60 years. The project would include a new railway yard with 7 tracks and a total track length of 20.9 kilometres, and have a petroleum storage capacity of 860,043 m3.


Latest update

February 11, 2025 — The Minister of Environment and Climate Change terminated the environmental assessment process of the project at the request of the proponent.
