New (Multiple) Tower Construction

Keewaytinook Okimakanak is proposing the construction of 2 telecommunication towers with a height of 39 m each, to provide high-speed internet access to the community of Frenchman's Head. Antennas will be mounted at the top of each tower. The antennas will operate in the 5 GHz frequency band. The equipment necessary to operate these facilities will be housed in small equipment cabinets located on site. These towers may undergo future modifications or additions/replacements of antennas.

Upgrade (Multiple) Towers

Keewaytinook Okimakanak is proposing the addition of 3 antennas with diameter of 0.6 m, in the 5 GHz frequency band, mounted near the top of 3 existing towers with height of 33 m. The towers are located on Whitefish, Hudson and Kejick Bay. The antennas will be installed to improve network access to high-speed internet. In the future, the existing towers may have other antennas and other radiocommunication equipment added or replaced.

New Fibre Installation

Keewaytinook Okimakanak plans to install fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, as backbone to serve residential homes in Frenchman's Head and Kejick Bay. The project involves the installation of approximately 6.5 km of a mix of aerial/buried fibre and 2 km of underwater fibre. The fibre optical cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, as well as underwater.
