Driftpile Cree Nation Lagoon Reclamation

Driftpile Cree Nation is decommissioning the old wastewater treatment lagoons located on reserve with within SE 27-73-12-5. The project will include dewatering of lagoons, excavation and disposal of sludge, liners, and other lagoon materials followed by backfilling the area with soil meeting AEPA Tier 1 guidelines and seeded with native seed mix. The lagoons have not been in use since 2016. The proponent will be required to dispose of all materials at an appropriate facility.


Latest update

July 29, 2024– Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) until August 28, 2024 respecting the determination.
