Little Grand Rapids First Nation School

Project Summary:
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), in partnership with the Little Grand Rapids First Nation (LGRFN), are proposing to construct a new K-12 school and associated sporting/recreational facilities within theLGRFN communityon Indian Reserve (IR. 14) land (the project). Once completed, the school will beowned and operated by theLGRFN.The Project is generally located on the southside of the LGRFN community and approximately60m from adjacent residences and175 m from the main community road (see Attachment A).Coordinates of the project location are: 331441.84E, 5765560.00N (UTM Zone15U)

 

The Project will require clearing an area of approximately 5 hectares of forest within Indian Reservation land (IR. 16) adjacent to the existing community of LGRFN.The school will consist of a reinforced concrete foundation with piles to bedrock, a steel framed superstructure with concrete block and steelstud infill walls, finished with masonry and metal cladding and a modified bitumen roof.
NDL Constructionwas awarded the design-build contract to complete the architecture and engineeringdesign of the school and to lead its construction planning and delivery.Number Ten Architecture Groupis responsible forthe design component of this project and,Dillon Consulting Ltd. is providingenvironmental and civil engineering services in support of Number Ten Architecture Group
