Victoria Beach Hydrometric Stilling Well Removal - Winter 2023 - Public Comments Invited

The hydrometric station "Lake Winnipeg at Victoria Beach (05SA003)" is located within the Victoria Beach Harbour at the East end of Lake Winnipeg. This is an active station which records hydrometric data under the administration of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) National Hydrological Services (NHS).

National Hydrological Services is proposing to decommission an inactive creosote stilling well at this hydrometric station. The scope of this project includes complete removal of the stilling well and shelter, and the remediation of the project site. The removal will be done from the ice by land based equipment and a silt curtain will be used to isolate the area. All removed infrastructure and material will be disposed of at appropriate licensed facilities. The approximate dimensions of the well are 1.2 meters in diameter and 3.5 meters deep. The approximate project area to be disturbed is 15 square meters.
