Sugar Creek Peat Harvesting Project

Sun Gro Horticulture Canada is proposing the construction, operation, decommissioning and abandonment of the Sugar Creek Peat Harvesting Project, located approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Fisher River Cree Nation, Manitoba. As proposed, the Project would extract peat from four sub areas and include an access road, bog roads, a staging area, sedimentation ponds, and a drainage network.


Latest update

January 23, 2023 — The Minister of Environment and Climate Change has determined that the Sugar Creek Peat Harvesting Project proposed by Sun Gro Horticulture Canada does not warrant designation under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the Minister’s determination are provided in the Minister’s response.
