Airport West Perimeter Road and Primary Security Line Relocation

September 24, 2025 – Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. must determine whether the proposed Airport West Perimeter Road and Primary Security Line Relocation project at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG), located in Winnipeg, Manitoba is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. proposes to undertake the construction of a new primary security line fence and relocation of airport perimeter roadway to maintain security control measures. The project is located within western side of the airport lands. Work will include installation of a new 3.05m tall chain link security fencing, topsoil stripping, placement of granular base materials, asphalt paving, drainage improvements including culvert installations and landscaping with placement of salvaged topsoil, hydroseeding and erosion control measures.

The proposed project construction duration is 3 months.
