Okanagan Indian Band 1 - Fortis BC Natural gas pipeline replacement project

Fortis BC is replacing a segment of their natural gas transmission pipeline on Okanagan Indian Band 1 at the Salmon River Crossing (5) site near the intersection of highway 97 and the Salmon River Road. Approximately 8m of pipeline has become exposed at a river crossing due to scour and erosion. Key features of the project include:

  • Preparation of work staging area
  • Horizontal Directional Drilling of a new pipeline segment, approximately 26m below the Salmon River  
  • Decommissioning and removal of the existing pipeline segment within the Salmon River

The project will involve some vegetation removal, excavation, and in stream works.
