Shackan - Sand and Gravel operation on Shackan IR11

Shackan proposes to develop a sand and gravel pit on Shackan IR 11 (the Project) to provide approximately 200,000 m3 of sand and gravel needed to rebuild sections of Highway 8.  An Environmental Impact Assessment was prepared to understand the potential for environmental effects associated with the project for consideration in the planning, design, and construction phases of the project. An Operational and Restoration Plan was prepared for pit development and operation methodology.

Latest update

July 17, 2024 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada are Environement Climate Change Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
