Langley Outfall Maintenance Dredging

The Proposed Project

Fraser River Pile and Dredge (GP) Inc. on behalf of Metro Vancouver proposes to undertake maintenance dredging to remove accumulated sediments from the Langley wastewater treatment plant outfall pipe, located in the Fraser River at 103201 – 201 Street, Langley, BC. The outfall pipe is blocked by accumulated sediment and requires dredging to maintain facility operation. The proposed dredging work will be conducted by clamshell dredge from a barge, with support from an underwater dive team. Dredging of the accumulated sediment will take place in a footprint of approximately 1,800 square meters. The volume of sediment that will be removed will be less than 4,000 cubic meters, and sediment will be disposed of at sea under a valid Environment and Climate Change Disposal at Sea permit. Works will take place during the least risk fish window for the Fraser River.

December 1, 2020 – The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has determined that the proposed Langley Outfall Maintenance Dredging, located at 103201 – 201 Street, Langley, B.C. is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
