Esquimalt Graving Dock (EGD) - Building 1001 & 1002 Demolition and Remediation

This project will involve the demolition of the two, one story buildings. The demolition work will include the removal of hazardous building materials and subsequent demolition of the buildings. The combined footprint of the two buildings is approximately 60m2.

Environmental sampling has shown that the soil underneath the building has metal contaminant exceedances. As a result, once the buildings are demolished, the top meter of soil (approximately 60m3) will be excavated, trucked and disposed offsite at a licensed facility. The site will be backfilled with new, clean fill. Site restoration activities will include installing a drainage system, re-grading the site and paving. The fieldwork component is expected to take 2-4 weeks.
